On November 20 2024, the Dutch Embassy in Japan, Topsector ICT, and the CoE-DSC hosted a webinar in preparation for a special mission during the World Expo 2025. We presented the programme and the opportunity to highlight the role of Private Enhancing Technologies (PETs) in data sharing during this mission.

Information on World Expo 2025 in Japan

From April 13 to October 13 2025, Japan hosts the World Expo in Osaka. Japan and the Netherlands have been important trading partners for 425 years, so naturally the Netherlands will participate in the World Expo 2025.

International stage

The World Expo is an excellent international stage for Dutch organisations and companies to present themselves to the world. The pavilion of the Netherlands offers visitors a unique experience in the field of innovation and sustainability. Together with the Dutch business community, we want to show what solutions we have for global challenges. Hence the theme of the Netherlands is: ‘Common Ground’.

Mission in May 2025 – focus on high tech, digitalisation, AI and data sharing

During the World Expo 2025 from May 21 to 27, the Netherlands will focus on high tech, digitalisation, AI, and data sharing. This is particularly interesting because Japan wants to  play a pioneering role in the field of Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT). In addition, Japan is striving to become a Society 5.0, a society in which the online and offline environments merge seamlessly.

The programme of this special mission includes (in addition to attendance at the Dutch Pavilion) visits to relevant companies, universities and research institutes, a matchmaking event and a conference. An ideal opportunity to share expertise, gain knowledge and meet people.
